This week we made significant improvements to our system. In this article, I will share the changes and new features that have been implemented, as well as how they might impact you.

Important Note

Anytime there is a major update, we highly recommend that users take the following steps to see the latest updates:

Mobile

  1. iOS - Delete your application and re-install it from the App Store. Then login.
  2. Android - Delete your application and it's leftover files completely. Then re-install the application from the Google Play Store. (See How - Android)

Web

Clear your browsing history and cache completely before attempting to login into the new system.

Referral Dashboard and your referrals

Now that we have completed the data migration, users will be able to see all their referrals here. Some users will be asked to complete their referral onboarding again when they click the Referral Dashboard screen from the web or the View Earnings button from our Rider App. I'll explain the reason for this in the Referral Codes section of this article. 

Referral Codes - Compliance and Updates

Brief

Check your referral code!
Your referral code may have changed due to one of the issues listed below, which means users should check their referral code and update it right away to a referral code of their choice.

  1. Duplicate Referral Codes
    Problem
    During our data migration and validation we discovered that some users in the new system picked a duplicate referral code. i.e. they picked a referral code that already belonged to someone in the previous system. This was a bug, since not all users were migrated over to the new system at that time, which prevented our system from catching duplicates.

    Resolution
    For these users, we ensured their referrals are tagged appropriately by doing a data, cell and email id match. We have also assigned these users a unique referral code and reset their referral onboarding. This will allow users who had picked a duplicate referral code to keep their referrals and pick a new code as soon as they complete their referral onboarding.
  2. Non Compliant Referral Codes
    Problem
    Some users used your email addresses, capital letters, and special characters in their username. This issue was identified with even legacy users who were migrated from the old system and have created their accounts months ago.

    Resolution
    If a user had a non-compliant referral code we have them a unique compliant referral code. All users should check their referral code and update it right away to a referral code of their choice.

Referral Code Change Flow Improvement

Problem
In the past, when users updated their referral code during the referral onboarding process; they were required to log out and log back in for the changes to take effect. This caused some confusion, as users didn't see the update right away.

Resolution
In the latest version Rider App "Version 1.0.8 (1.0)" users will be able to change their referral code during the referral onboarding and see the new code without having to log out and log back in.
